From Tangier I went to Barcelona. There I chanced upon a meeting with Leonardo Rodriguez who I met years and years ago in Venezuela when I was there to lecture, demo, and jury a show. Leonardo was having a show in Barcelona, where he now lives with his family. At the show he had the writer of one of the children’s books he’s illustrated read several chapters while he did on the spot watercolors. Pep Zapata was there and had brought his hardcover copy of “Enemy Ace: War Idyll” with him for me to do a sketch in.
Later I was contacted by Eduardo Alvarado Sánchez-Cortés whom I only knew on Facebook. He came in on a train from somewhere else in Spain and then took me to meet and have dinner with artists Monica Subide and Miquel Wertz. After we visited Miquel’s studio.
I was also invited to draw at the Barcelona Atelier. It was great to meet so many different artists.
